well chapter six was interesting to say the least. i learned alot about gatsby and who he really was. the fact that he was a janitor is pretty demeaning. and he basically watched cody drink himself to death which seriously made me almost cry because my grandpa almost drank himself to death too. so i think it was great that he decided that he wouldnt drink. and that mistress practically stole that money from gatsby, i mean when you think about it, and it was completly unfair to gatsby. but on the bright side he becam rich and successful anyways so i guess everything worked itself out. inviting tom over was dangerous because he is starting to become suspisious of gatsby and daisy cause she always goes to his house and he just said he knew her. and the party wasnt exactly a good idea either cause daisy didnt haave a good time because tom said gatsbys money came from bootlegging, so gatsby feels terrible because he wants thing to be like they used to be. i think chapter six says alot for the sensitivity to status that spurs gatsby on. his obbession with his wealth is obviously his way of venting out the negativity of being a poor janitor. gatsbys greatest achievment is his idenity, and i think gatsbys personal view of daisy is clouded by his past and doesnt realize that she's changed.
chapter 7 was so crazy! i cant believe that gatsby cancelled all of his parties, which were basically his role so far in the book, and fired everybody and hired a bunch of wolfshiems friends. when nick goes to toms he finds jordan and gatsby there too, which i thought was kinda wierd, and then suddenly theres a baby? speciffically a baby that had never been mentioned before! even weirder, they all suddenly decide to drive to new york? tom again proves how much of an ignorant jerk he is by making fun of gatsby, saying he never went to oxford, then accuses gatsby of bootlegging. i feel like im just summerizing so chapterr seven suprised me because i never thought that tom and gatsby would agrue over daisy and i also thought it was creepy that nick snuck into those peoples' house
